Wanganui Toy Library Incorporated
The Wanganui Toy Library provides toys for babies through to eight year olds. Our aim is to bring good quality, well designed toys to the children of Wanganui, to help them learn through play. A trained librarian is employed to provide knowledgeable assistance to parents and caregivers when choosing age appropriate toys. They are also a central contact point for an organisation that relies on volunteers for its operation. Please feel free to visit us in person at 142 London Street Wanganui. We are open every Thursday 9.30am to 11.30am, as well as the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10am to 12pm. We are closed over the Christmas school holidays.

The Toy Library would like to express our thanks to Carey Hood & Co Accountants Wanganui for auditing our accounts for free this year. We are extremely grateful for their time and support.
01-May-2014:  Librarian position
We are looking for a new Librarian. This is a paid position and we would provide full training. If you have enjoyed doing your Toy Library duty or enjoy working in the community this could be for you. Being an organised person thats interested in how children learn through play, would also be helpful for the roll. Please contact us if you are interested or would like more information.
01-May-2014:  Toy Library AGM 8th May
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on the 8th of May at The Rutland Arms on Ridgeway street. We will start at 7.30pm. It would be great to see as many of our members there as possible! We will be providing nibbles and one free drink. It will be a relaxed evening with reports from the year and discussion for the future. This is great time to join our committee or to just come along and hear about Toy Library.
Hope to see you there.
17-Mar-2014:  COGS Grant
We have been granted $2000 From COGS! Thank you COGS! This will go towards rates, power and running cost of the Toy Library.
03-Dec-2013:  Bring and Buy Sale
Thank you to everyone who donated things to sell or came and brought something at our sale on the 23rd November. We made over $200! We still have some items for sale at the Library.
06-Aug-2013:  50c Toy Borrowing Fee
From Thursday 8th August the Wanganui Toy Library will be introducing a 50c per toy borrowing fee for all toys (excluding puzzles) to cover running costs of the library.
15-Feb-2013:  Party Hire
Having a children's party, but not sure how to keep them entertained - the toy library can now offer toys for party hire. Pay $20 and get FOUR of our larger toys (roller coaster, coupe car, slide, climbing frame or so on) for one week. This will be on top of your usual toy allowance. This offers great value, as these are usually popular gold star toys or proven favourites. This offer is ONLY AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS of the toy library, and bookings must be made in advance to ensure availability, due to limited storage space in the toy library. You can check out our range of these toy using the toy list on this website - search under Outdoor or Ride Ons. This cost has been considered carefully by the committee, and you couldn't buy these toys for that price! Why buy these toys, and then have to store them when you really only want them for a day, borrow them from us.
15-Feb-2013:  Introduce a friend and get a free toy bag
We have a fantastic toy library which we want to share. Introduce a friend or a family member, get them to sign up for a full membership and bag yourself a free toy library bag (limited to the first ten people). These bags are bigger than your average supermarket one, and great for transporting and storing all those toys borrowed from us.
Ailsa will be happy to show you one next time your in the toy library.
We're also having a stall, at the Children's Day event organised by SKIP, on Sunday the 3rd March at the Springvale Jubilee Stadium. This is a great opportunity to promote our toy library to those people who still don't know about us, and the great toys we have available. Check out our facebook page, to keep up to date with what's happening in our community.
16-Oct-2012:  Wanganui Toy Library Gift Certificates
THE GIFT OF PLAY - a great idea for birthday or Christmas gifts, new arrivals and Grandparents. Each gift certificate costs $20, and entitles the receiver to SIX borrowing sessions over the course of a year with NO DUTIES. Usual membership rules apply. Emma will be pleased to show you a sample one next time your in the library. They are awesome.
29-Aug-2012:  Internet Banking
We are pleased to advise the Wanganui Toy Library can now accept internet banking payments. Please ensure your surname and initial plus membership number is used on any payments made electronically. This will ensure we can correctly match your payment. Failure to do so may incur a bank search fee. If you could send a confirmation email, this would be appreciated. wanganuitoylibrary@gmail.com

Bank details are:
Wanganui Toy Library Inc

This should make the payment of subscriptions and fees easier.
19-May-2012:  Cleaning of Toys
Please ensure that before returning toys you have checked they are clean. We have had a few that have come in clearly covered in dirt or sand. We don't have the facilities for completely cleaning toys, and usually it's too busy to do so. It is members responsibility to make sure toys are returned in a clean state. Please don't be offended if you are asked to take an item home if it is dirty.
